GDP518 Sketch Challenge – Nests of Winter & Misty Moonlight Magic

There’s something so elegant about a cool winter palette, and today’s card for the Global Design Project #518 Sketch Challenge captures that perfectly! I paired the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper with Misty Moonlight, silver-edged ribbon, and rhinestones for a frosty, festive feel.

The sentiment from Jolly Holly was stamped in Misty Moonlight and layered on a Spotlight on Nature circle for the perfect focal point. This simple but striking design really lets the patterned paper and soft shimmer take center stage.

If you’d like to recreate this look, here’s a full list of supplies used as well as a printable card recipe.

I love how the sketch challenge layout gave me the perfect framework to build a clean and elegant holiday card that’s quick to assemble but still full of detail.

💙 Tip: If you love this colour combo, stock up on Misty Moonlight cardstock and ink before the holidays—they’re perfect for winter crafting projects.

Gamer Birthday Card with Fun Fold | Stampin’ Up! Throwback Thursday

Welcome to this week’s Throwback Thursday, where I feature a fun mix of current Stampin’ Up! products with some retired favourites! This week’s card was created for my video game–loving son’s 17th birthday—and I couldn’t resist pulling out the retired Level Complete stamp set to make something truly personal.

✂️ Design Details:

  • Card Base: Secret Sea cardstock, 5 ½” X 6-3/4″, scored at 4-1/4″ .
  • DSP Layers: Florals in Bloom 12×12 DSP on the front panel, and a custom-stamped Cloud Cover panel inside featuring repeated gamer icons from the stamp set.
  • Focal Point: The video game controller from Level Complete, stamped in Secret Sea Ink on Basic White and coloured subtly with Stampin’ Blends. It’s layered on die cuts from the Stylish Shapes and Spotlight on Nature Dies, with the outer layer in Secret Sea. This layer was scored about 1/2″ in and glued between the Cloud Cover and Secret Sea layers to create a flap
  • Sentiment: “Happy Birthday” is heat embossed in white on Secret Sea, then die-cut with a Stylish Shapes stitched banner.
  • Embellishments: A few2025-2027 in Color Flat Pearls add a touch of shine without making the card too “blingy” for a teen boy.

The mix of old and new really makes this card shine—and those new 2025–2027 In Colors (Secret Sea and Cloud Cover) are so versatile!
