Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge #465 – Sunrise Sailing Fun Fold Card

Hello friends!
It’s time for another Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge, and this week’s sketch (#465) had me reaching for one of my new favourites—the Sunrise Sailing Bundle! I paired it with a fun fold layout and rich nautical tones to create a card that feels full of motion, encouragement, and seaside beauty.

Here’s my design for the challenge:

⛵ Card Details:

  • Base Colour: Misty Moonlight
  • DSP Background: Thoughtful Journey 6×6
  • Stamps & Dies: Sunrise Sailing bundle
  • Ink Colours: Night of Navy (for sentiment + boat), Misty Moonlight (blender brushed on embossed layer)
  • Embossing Folder: Hybrid folder (cuts and embosses in one pass!)
  • Embellishments: Iridescent Faceted Gems

This card opens in a Z-fold style, revealing a soft watercolour-style interior for your message. The front panel is accented with a stitched circle sentiment: “You’re destined for great things,” perfectly setting the tone for a card that’s ideal for graduation, a new job, or a big life adventure!

Here is a full list of the supplies I used:

💙 What I Love About This Card:

This project blends movement and meaning—from the sailboat imagery to the layered sky and sea. The Misty Moonlight ink blending over the embossed clouds and waves adds a dreamy, dimensional touch that makes this card feel like a little vacation.

🧭 Crafting Tips:

  • Use a hybrid embossing folder for crisp detail and easy layering—no second step required!
  • When blender brushing, apply ink lightly in circular motions to highlight texture without overpowering your design.
  • A Z-fold or gatefold base adds instant “wow” with minimal extra effort.

Festive Friday – Most Wonderful Wreath Card with Watercolour & Heat Embossing

Festive Friday is here again, and I’m thrilled to share this cool-toned, elegant card featuring the brand-new Most Wonderful stamp set from Stampin’ Up!®

This project is all about layers, texture, and techniques. Here’s how it came together:

🔹 I started by heat embossing the wreath image from the stamp set in clear embossing powder onto Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.
🔹 Once it cooled, I added a loose Pretty Peacock watercolour wash right over the top. The resist technique lets that wreath pop through beautifully!
🔹 After drying, I layered the panel onto a Pool Party card base.

For the sentiment, I used a Basic White banner cut by hand and stamped with the gorgeous large script from the Most Wonderful stamp set in Strawberry Slush Ink. It’s mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals for that pop!

✨ Embellishing details:

  • Die-cut foliage in Pool Party (from the Year of Flowers dies)
  • A bow of Linen Thread for a rustic holiday touch
  • And the lightest gems from the Strawberry Slush & Pretty in Pink Gems pack to add a subtle sparkle.

💡 Tips for Your Craft Table:

  • Clear embossing + watercolour is a must-try combo! The resist effect gives amazing texture and depth without overpowering your focal image.
  • Use colour families like Pretty Peacock + Pool Party for soft elegance and contrast with a bold ink like Strawberry Slush to help your sentiment shine.
  • Precut die shapes in a neutral or coordinating colour to keep handy when layering up quick cards.

Throwback Thursday – Graduation Card with Slim Sayings & School Days

This week I’m reaching into my stash to spotlight the retired Slim Sayings stamp set, used here for a bold and joyful “Congrats to the Graduate”. Graduation season is upon us, and I’m loving how this layout blends nostalgia with sparkle using both retired and current Stampin’ Up! products.

🖤 Design Details:

  • Sentiment from Slim Sayings stamped in Secret Sea Ink
  • Graduation cap from the School Days Online Exclusive set
  • Background embossed using the Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder
  • Patterned layer is from the Florals in Bloom 12×12 DSP
  • Secret Sea panel with gold heat-embossed stars
  • Both panels framed in Summer Splash cardstock
  • Embellished with In Color Flat Pearls (Summer Splash)

💡 Pro Tip:
The Mini Corrugated folder shrinks your paper. To achieve a finished panel of 5¼” x 4″, start with a 5½” x 4″ piece, emboss it, and trim the excess. This keeps your layout crisp and even.

✨ A touch of gold embossing on the tassel adds a celebratory feel, while Summer Splash pearls echo the card’s soft colour palette. This design would work beautifully for high school, college, or kindergarten grads alike!

Do you have a go-to retired stamp for milestone celebrations? I love revisiting old favourites like Slim Sayings for bold sentiments that still shine.

🐾 GDP499: Animal Theme Challenge

This week’s Global Design Project theme is all about animals, and I couldn’t resist reaching for the Along These Lines stamp set. The relaxed pose of the tiger really spoke to me, and I loved pairing it with one of my favourite sentiment sets—Beautiful Butterflies. They’re a perfect match for a card meant to lift someone up.

Here’s the card I created:

🧡 Project Details

  • Stamp Sets: Along These Lines (tiger), Beautiful Butterflies (sentiment)
  • Ink: Memento Black
  • Cardstock: Timid Tiger, Coastal Cabana, Secret Sea, and Basic White
  • Embellishments: 2025–2027 In Color Shimmer Gems
  • Embossing Folder: So Swirly Embossing Folder

The tiger and sentiment are stamped in Memento Black on Timid Tiger and Coastal Cabana strips. I layered those on a Secret Sea card base with white embossed panels above and below. This layout gives a grounded look while letting the sentiment really shine.

💬 What I Love About This Card

This design feels like a warm hug. The tiger’s posture is calm and supportive, and the sentiment—“In case you need me… I’m here”—is such a beautiful reminder of connection. The gentle contrast of colours keeps the card soft, not stark.

And honestly, how fun is it to use Timid Tiger cardstock for a tiger stamp?!

✂️ Tips for Recreating This Look

  • Try different colour combos with the same layout—Soft Sea Foam or Bubble Bath could totally change the vibe!
  • Use a stamping platform to help line up your sentiment perfectly across layered cardstock.
  • Emboss your background panels first, then trim them to size so you can adjust for even spacing.
  • Don’t be afraid to mix and match stamp sets—sentiments from one set can beautifully complement the images from another.

📌 Be sure to visit Global Design Project’s site to see the full challenge and more stunning inspiration from creators around the world.

Festive Friday: Sweet Jar + Peppermint Dots Christmas Card

Happy Festive Friday, friends!

Today’s project is bursting with charm and sweetness thanks to the Sweet Jar bundle, one of my new favourites. I filled the stamped jar with Real Red hearts and peppermint candies and layered it over a bold print from the Take a Bow 6×6 Designer Series Paper—which is retiring soon, so grab it before it’s gone!

To give the layout some balance and polish, I used the Stylish Shapes Dies to create crisp stitched circles behind the jar and sentiment. The sentiment comes from mixing the a sentiment from the Sweet Jar stamp set with the classic Greetings of the Season stamp set.

But the real magic? That Secret Sea ink and thin trim of cardstock—just enough to cool down all that red and make everything pop. It’s my new go-to neutral and I’m obsessed!

The Adhesive-Backed Peppermint Dots and a simple bow of Real Red & White Baker’s Twine complete the look with a playful, candy-cane twist.

Throwback Thursday – Saying Goodbye with ‘Welcome to the Team’

As the school year winds down, it’s time to reflect, appreciate, and sometimes say goodbye. This week’s Throwback Thursday card is dedicated to those bittersweet farewells—to staff moving on to new schools and new roles.

I pulled out a retired gem: Welcome to the Team, one of my favourite sentiment sets for coworkers and colleagues. It was the perfect pairing for the bright, cheerful designs in the Full of Life 6×6 Designer Series Paper (a current Stampin’ Up! product!) and some subtle sparkle from Iridescent Faceted Gems.

🖤 Card Details:

  • Image & Sentiment stamped in Secret Sea Ink – it’s quickly become my go-to neutral!
  • The coffee mug was coloured with Lemon Lime Twist and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends
  • I stamped the image again on a stitched Stylish Shapes circle, then fussy cut and popped the mug up on dimensionals
  • Finished off with coordinating DSP and a trio of Iridescent Faceted Gems

It’s a clean, modern, and heartfelt card—great for staff farewells, team transitions, or even just a note of appreciation to a hardworking friend.

✂️ Creative Tip:

Fussy cutting and layering stamped images over the same design creates easy depth and dimension, especially when using alcohol markers for vibrant colouring.

Live Replay: GDP498 Sketch Challenge – Sweet Jar Bundle + Bonus Project!

🎈 Sweet Jar Birthday Card (Live Video)
I used the Bright & Beautiful DSP (a Last Chance item!) and jar of stamped candles to make a fun, bright birthday card. The iridescent gems finish it off with a little shimmer! This layout is part of GDP498 and shows how you can quickly mix paper and dies for a playful, professional look.

🎬 Poppin’ By Gift Card Holder (Bonus Project)
Later in the day, I kept the creative energy going by using the same sketch to make a gift card holder with the Poppin’ By Bundle. I love the bold red and white stripes, stitched banner sentiment, and popcorn puff details. It’s such a fun card to give!

Sweet Jar Birthday Card – HSS464 Sketch Challenge

This week’s Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge is a sketch challenge (HSS464) and I’m excited to share my interpretation using some of the newest and sweetest products from Stampin’ Up!

I’ve used the Sweet Jar bundle along with the Florals in Bloom 12×12 Designer Series Paper to create a playful birthday card full of charm—and hearts!

Here’s my design for the challenge:

🌸 Project Details:

  • Card base: Secret Sea cardstock (8½” x 5½”, scored at 4¼”)
  • DSP strips: I layered two coordinating pieces from the Florals in Bloom DSP—one vertical strip with a bold Strawberry Slush cross pattern and a shorter Cloud Cover stripe across the jar for visual balance.
  • Jar & hearts: I stamped the jar outline in Secret Sea and filled it with layered heart stamps in Strawberry Slush full strength and 2nd generation inks. The lid was also stamped in Sweet Sorbet. Both parts were punched out using the coordinating punch.
  • Sentiment: “Happy Birthday” is stamped in Secret Sea on a stitched banner die-cut (from the Stylish Shapes dies).
  • Embellishments: I finished the card with three Strawberry Slush 2025–2027 In Color Flat Pearls, adding the perfect pop of coordinating colour.

The circle, banner and jar are mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give that fun layered look that really makes the jar pop!

Festive Friday: Humble Home + Peppermint Dots Christmas Card

Happy Festive Friday, friends!

This week’s handmade Christmas card is all about sweet details and versatile layouts. I used the Humble Home stamp set and punch to create the cutest gingerbread house focal point, accented with Adhesive-Backed Peppermint Dots for a fun holiday pop.

The Take a Bow 6×6 Designer Series Paper—a retiring favourite on the Last Chance List—adds a joyful mix of stripes and polka dots. I tied everything together with a bow of White 1/4″ Ribbon for that finishing touch.

✅ This layout is a repeat of yesterday’s Throwback Thursday—because when a design works, I say use it again!
✅ Great for batch card-making during the holidays.
