Throwback Thursday: Revisiting the Nests of Christmas Paper Pumpkin Kit

I love revisiting my Paper Pumpkin kits, especially when they coordinate so perfectly with current products! This week, I pulled out the Nests of Christmas Paper Pumpkin kit from October 2024 and created three brand-new alternative cards using the coordinating Nests of Winter 12×12 DSP and the stunning Gold Striped Mesh Ribbon.

  • Die cut a Basic White and a Shaded Spruce Everyday Arch that can layer together. Glue them together and then glue to a Pool Party layer ( either a piece from the Paper Pumpkin kit or a 4″ X 5-1/4″ layer of Nests of Winter DSP).
  • Tie a piece of Gold Striped Mesh Ribbon around this layer and attach to a Thick Basic White card base.
  • Stamp the sentiment using Shaded Spruce Ink on one of the extra labels from the kit ( or cut your own with Stylish Shapes dies). Attach to the card front using Dimensionals.
  • Fussy cut a bird on a branch and an extra branch from the Nests of Winter DSP and glue to the card front ( tuck the ends under the sentiment label).
  • Embellish with Iridescent Foil Gems.

🛍️ Shop the Supplies:

🧵 BONUS: I have TWO full Nests of Christmas Paper Pumpkin kits available — directly from me (not Stampin’ Up!). These are $35 CAD each (+ shipping if needed). If you’re in Canada, contact me directly to arrange local pickup or mailing.

✨ You can also catch my original unboxing + 2 alternatives on YouTube here:

In addition to this sweet winter card, I created 3 other alternatives. Each of these uses bits from the Paper Pumpkin kit added on to a card stock base rather than creating the cards as intended. Let’s take a look at each of the new cards!

Throwback Thursday – Adorable Owls Meet Wildflower Birthday DSP

Today’s card is a sweet birthday throwback featuring one of my all-time favourite retired stamp sets—Adorable Owls—brought to life with some fun new products!

This owl is celebrating in style with:

  • The vibrant Wildflower Birthday 12×12 DSP
  • Peach Pie Bordered Ribbon (currently on the Last Chance list—grab it while you can!)
  • A textured base using the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder
  • A sprinkle of sparkle with Starburst Sequins

🎨 How to Make This Card:

  1. Start with a Thick Basic White card base.
  2. Emboss a 4″ x 5-¼” Basic White panel with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder and adhere it to your base.
  3. Cut 2 angled rectangles from the Wildflower Birthday DSP and layer them slightly askew for interest.
  4. Wrap the Peach Pie Bordered Ribbon across the layers and tie a bow on the left side.
  5. Die cut a stitched circle (Pool Party cardstock or similar) and pop it up with Dimensionals.
  6. Stamp the owl from Adorable Owls, colour with Stampin’ Blends, fussy cut, and adhere.
  7. Stamp a birthday sentiment and die-cut or banner cut it, then adhere with Dimensionals.
  8. Add a few Starburst Sequins for a pop of sparkle.

🧡 This card is bright, happy, and full of texture—perfect for any birthday celebration. While the Adorable Owls are retired, the layout and product mix can work with so many images you already have in your stash.

Festive Friday: Bright & Happy with Jolly Holly

Happy Festive Friday! Today’s holiday card was created using the brand new Jolly Holly Bundle (an Online Exclusive!) and the GDP506 sketch for layout inspiration. 💡 Leah’s Crafting Tips:

🖼 Create your own patterned paper!
The centre strip isn’t from DSP — I hand-stamped and coloured the florals and greenery from the Jolly Holly stamp set using Stampin’ Blends. It’s a beautiful way to customize your colour palette or match any project theme!

✂️ Modify your dies:
The sentiment label was created using the Textured Notes Dies, but I trimmed it with a double cut technique to make it narrower — perfect for this long sentiment while keeping those stitched details.

Throwback Thursday: Cheerful Basket + July 2025 Paper Pumpkin = Summer Sweetness

    Happy Throwback Thursday!
This week I paired one of my favourite oldies—the retired Cheerful Basket stamp set—with the adorable elements from the July 2025 Paper Pumpkin kit. I’m truly obsessed with this month’s Paper Pumpkin… the sweet strawberries and uplifting sentiments just feel like summer. 🍓☀️

I used the basket image from Cheerful Basket and filled/ surrounded it with hand-cut strawberries and florals from the Paper Pumpkin kit. The colour palette is fresh and rustic, and I mounted everything on a Country Woods 12X12 DSP background for a cozy farmhouse feel.✂️ Project Details:

    • Stamp Sets: Cheerful Basket (retired), July 2025 Paper Pumpkin stamp set
    • Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Basic White
    • Paper: Country Woods 12 x 12 DSP
    • Ink Colours: Garden Green, Real Red, Early Espresso
    • Stampin’ Blends: Crumb Cake
    • Embellishments: Fussy-cut strawberries and blooms (from Paper Pumpkin stamp set), Strawberry Slush & Pretty In Pink Gems
    • Sentiment: “You fill my day with happiness” (from Cheerful Basket stamp set)

This design is great for any occasion that calls for a smile—from birthdays to just-because notes. And best of all, it’s a reminder to mix your older stamps with your latest kits for endless inspiration!

Festive Friday: Dressed-Up Dachshund for the Holidays

It’s another Festive Friday, and I’m sharing a card that’s sure to make you smile! This week’s card features the Long Time No See stamp set — a super cute Online Exclusive — paired with the beautifully rich Regal Distressed Patterns 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper.

The star of this card? A fashionable little dachshund decked out for Christmas in a cozy, hand-coloured sweater!

    Card Details:

🐾 Stamp Set: Long Time No See (Online Exclusive)
    🎄 DSP: Regal Distressed Patterns
    🖍 Colours Used:

    • Dog: Pecan Pie
    • Sweater: Cherry Cobbler, Pretty Peacock, Old Olive
    • Sentiment: Cherry Cobbler

    🎨 Extra Touches:

    • Holly at the collar was hand drawn, coloured, and fussy cut
    • Accented with Cherry Cobbler & Pearl Adhesive-Backed Berries
    • Framed with a Texture Notes rectangle die

    🎨 Leah’s Pro Tip:

When placing the dachshund on your block, tilt his tail back slightly. This creates space for the sentiment between his tail and head — keeping your layout clean and balanced!

This card is a wonderful reminder that you can get creative even with small touches — like drawing and cutting your own holly for that festive flair. And don’t forget, the Long Time No See set is an Online Exclusive, so you’ll only find it in the online shop — not in any printed catalogues.

Throwback Thursday: Frogs, Sass & GDP505 Colours

It’s time for Throwback Thursday, and this week I had a giggle while crafting! The inspiration? The Global Design Project #505 Colour Challenge—featuring Strawberry Slush, Pretty Peacock, and Old Olive—and the hilariously snarky Birthday Banter stamp set (yes, it’s wood-mounted and still fabulous!).

    This week’s card features:

    • A sentiment heat embossed in white on a Pretty Peacock cardstock.
    • Textured Soft Waves 3D Embossing Folder background for a playful feel
    • A pop of Strawberry Slush in the Faux Linen Ribbon, coordinating Strawberry Slush and Pretty in Pink Gems, as well as Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Blends to colour the froggy lipstick. 🐸💄

The design uses two Stylish Shapes Dies circles: one for our glamorous froggy duo and another for the cheeky sentiment. The result? A card that’s equal parts silly and sweet—perfect for a birthday that celebrates survival with style.

💡 Why You’ll Love This Throwback:

    • That lipstick-wearing frog duo? Pure gold
    • Combines bold colour with nostalgic humour
    • Showcases how old stamps still have tons of personality
    • Great for friends with a wicked sense of humour!

Throwback Thursday: Sweetly Sentimental with So Sentimental

I love digging into my retired favourites for Throwback Thursday, and this week I reached for the classic So Sentimental stamp set and coordinating Stitched So Sweetly dies. These two retired gems were always a go-to for quick but polished cards—and they still hold up beautifully!

For today’s card, I started with a Secret Sea card base and layered on a Basic White panel. To build the background, I used a bold strip of Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper, along with two strips of cardstock in Strawberry Slush and Summer Splash. I embossed both cardstock pieces using the Glass and Gardens Embossing Folders to add gorgeous texture and dimension.

The sentiment is stamped from the So Sentimental set and cut with one of the Stitched So Sweetly dies—still one of my all-time favourite label sets. To finish off the card, I added a bow made from White 1/4″ Ribbon and a few of the 2025–2027 In Color Flat Pearls in Secret Sea. These little pearls are just the right touch of shimmer!

    🎨 Tips & Tricks

    • Try this layout using whatever sentiment and label dies you have on hand. It’s versatile and a great way to use up DSP scraps!
    • Embossing contrasting cardstock pieces adds texture without overwhelming your design.
    • Use tone-on-tone colour schemes (like Secret Sea pearls on a Secret Sea base) to keep embellishments subtle and elegant.

    Make It Your Own
Don’t have So Sentimental? No problem! This design is the perfect blank canvas. Swap in your favourite sentiment set and label dies to suit any occasion—from birthdays to thank-yous and everything in between.

Today is the last day of this three-day sale – it is the perfect opportunity to stock up on every color of two-tone cardstock. Whether you’re making cards or a scrapbook spread, two-tone cardstock is a must-have crafting staple. Each piece of cardstock has a smooth texture for stamping and a white core that works great for techniques like tearing, sanding, crumpling, embossing, etc.
