5 weeks of Christmas Card Classes – Week 1 – Sweet Candy Canes

For the next 5 weeks I am going to be going live on Wednesday mornings for a FREE with purchase Christmas Card Class. You can see the replay of this morning’s class below.

Christmas Season Online Card Class

Once a month I hold an online card class. How it works is I create 3 cards for you live and then for the next 3 days anyone who places a $65+cad order using my host code will receive the make’n’take kit and printable pdf to create the 3 cards. Orders over $100 will also receive a free embellishment. This month I featured the Christmas Season stamp set and the Seasonal Labels Dies. I also added in the Christmas to Remember sentiment stamp set. In addition to the card class and the ordering special, I also have a door prize draw. Christmas Season – Gift Card Holders

This week I am featuring different gift card holders. I love this one since it uses DSP and is so quick and easy to make.

This design can also be easily modified for any time of the year. I love these for Teacher thank you gifts and teen birthdays.

Each gift card is created using a 4″ X 11″ piece of DSP, scored at 3″, 6″, 9″. Then you round the small end to create a nice flap.

Add tear and tape to sides of the end piece that is 3″. Then cut out the card slot and glue the end shut.

Add a piece of white cardstock inside to write on.

Next, fold it all closed, wrap a strip of coordinating 3/4″ X 8-1/2″ cardstock around the closed DSP and tape it together. Finally decorate the cardstock strip.

This week’s Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge is a festive Colour Challenge. Take a look at all the beautiful cards created by our design team and then join the challenge.

I absolutely LOVE stamping with the Christmas Season stamp set. You can create such incredible cards with such ease. The stamps themselves create all the texture on the images. Just brilliant!

Once I was done stamping, I added a bit of Wink of Stella to the berries. Very subtle, but beautiful.

Today was my regular FB live and I featured the Poinsettia Petals stamp set. I used two current challenges to inspire me.

With these ideas in my head I started creating – using one of my favourite colour combos – Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green, and Polished Pink. To see exactly how I created this card check out the video below.

Snowy Christmas Card

Today I am playing with the Perfectly Plaid stamp set again – but using it to create a more traditional Christmas card with a snowy scene. I am also using a sketch from Global Design Project (GDP318) to inspire me.

This card looks a bit complicated, but in reality uses very few materials and only 1 ink and 1 reinker!! The tress and sentiment were stamped in Garden Green and the snow was created by splattering White Craft ink across the stamped scene. Playful Alphabet Christmas Card Sketch

You all know I LOVE a good Card Sketch – so I had to play along with Freshly Made sketches today.

I wanted to create a blue and silver Christmas card – but couldn’t find a blue DSP in my stash that felt like Christmas. So I created my own using the Festive Foliage stamp set. I embossed it with white and then dipped the whole piece in watered down blue reinker. Once that dried I created a silver mat by inking the edges of a slightly larger piece of cardstock with Versamark and then dipping in Silver embossing powder. Heat it up and voila! Silver border without using a whole piece of Silver Foil.

The rest of the card came together quickly as I cut out my sentiment from the Playful Alphabet dies ( this time I did use Silver Foil – with adhesive sheet on the back to make sticking down the letters a breeze). The tag is from the Tasteful Label Dies cut out of Misty Moonlight. I added the slits for the amazing Glittered Organdy ribbon using the Label Me Fancy Punch. A few Opal Rounds and the card was complete.

It’s the 14th of the month – time for another West Coast Creators Blog Hop! This one features all thing Christmas!! Hop around see all the amazing cards created by our team members! Leave a little love and then come back to see us again on the 14th next month!

This card was created as a quick and easy card for a hostess party. The assembly of this card is quite quick and easy.

Attach DSP to the card base.
Use blending brushes to add some Shaded Spruce ink onto a Contour Scalloped Die.
Add this layer to the card base suing Dimensionals.
Attach a Wonderful Snowflake with a mini glue dot.
Adhere the word JOY using adhesive sheets on the back or Real Red cardstock ( die cut using the Playful Alphabet Dies).
Embellish with Rhinestones.

Frosted Gingerbread- Another Sketch Challenge

I adore Sketch Challenges and this one from Freshly Made Sketches (#FMS507) is so cute! I actually created two cards – but one of them is also a fun fold.

The first card I created using this sketch uses a super fun colour combo – the snowflakes are Balmy Blue with Misty Moonlight sponged on the edges. The sentiment is heat embossed onto a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock and the background DSP is from the host reward – Pattern Party DSP. This card just seems so happy!

The second card I created is a fun fold card you can actually see all the details on yesterdays blog post.

Frosted Gingerbread Challenge Card

One of my favourite parts of Christmas time is baking/decorating cookies with the kids. This Frosted Gingerbread bundle reminds me of those days and of my Nana’s Gingersnaps. I couldn’t resist creating with it when I saw this week’s colour challenge at Global Design Project (#gdp313) and the sketch challenge for TGIF Challenges (#tgifc337).

My original design used a slightly larger layer and I accented with Rhinestones. The card I created in my live video, I trimmed the Sahara Sand layer to be a bit smaller and I got bold with the Matte Black Dots. The Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon was used to sparkle up the card a bit on both.

The black layer behind the sentiment was placed there more for function than design. It was used to create a wider base on the sentiment so I could attach it with Dimensionals and it would stick to the card base rather than the ribbon that runs behind it.
