The September Paper Pumpkin has arrived, and today I finally got a chance to open it up and play!
I did my September Paper Pumpkin unboxing LIVE today, and if you missed me live, I’ll be sharing the replay below so you can see everything that came in this month’s box — plus the alternate cards I created.

For my alternate cards this month, I decided to forget about the kit pieces for a minute and focus on the stamps and ink included in the box.
And I had so much fun making my own DSP!
I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock and repeatedly stamped the leaf images from the Paper Pumpkin stamp set using the Early Espresso Stampin’ Spot included in the kit.
And can we talk about the new Stampin’ Spot design for a minute? I LOVE it! Such a great new design.
Once all of my leaves were stamped, I pulled out my Blending Brushes and added some beautiful fall colour. I used Golden Glow and Pumpkin Pie, with just a touch of Daffodil Delight here and there to brighten everything up. I love the soft look the blending gives the leaves while still letting those Early Espresso outlines really stand out.
Once my handmade DSP was finished, I cut the piece in half diagonally.
That gave me two coordinating pieces to use on two completely different card designs — and meant I could turn one fun stamping session into two alternate Paper Pumpkin cards.
For one card, I kept the focus on that colourful leaf background and added a simple circular sentiment.
For the second, I paired the handmade DSP with lots of texture, a darker stamped focal circle and a simple “thank you so much” sentiment.
I love how different the two cards feel even though they started with exactly the same piece of handmade DSP!
This is one of my favourite things about Paper Pumpkin. Of course you can make the projects exactly as Stampin’ Up! designed them, but once that little box is open, you have stamps and supplies that you can keep playing with again and again.
